Last week, aviation professionals from across the globe joined us for a highly anticipated session on Passenger Flow Monitoring (PFM) — a data-driven, modular approach to airport-wide analytics, from kerbside to gate.
Our focus? Not a sales pitch, but a reference architecture — a field-proven framework that airports can adapt to enable real-time monitoring, SLA compliance, and commercial optimisation across every stage of the passenger journey.

What We Covered
The workshop delivered a comprehensive technical walkthrough of FootfallCam’s unified platform — integrating 3D stereo vision, AI video analytics, and Bluetooth (BLE) tracking — all built on an open architecture to ensure seamless interoperability with existing AODB, BHS, and FIDS systems.
Key areas we explored:
- Passenger Journey Mapping — From car park to departure gate and back, using zone-level sensors and journey-level BLE re-identification.
- Queue and SLA Monitoring — Real-time wait time and throughput tracking at check-in, immigration, and security, with prescriptive alerts and SOP triggers.
- Retail and Commercial Insights — Tracking dwell time, path-to-purchase, and engagement at store-level, enabling revenue-maximising lease decisions.
- Cost-Efficiency at Scale — Our hybrid architecture (Pro2 + Pro1 + Centroid-48) delivers up to 15x lower TCO vs traditional LiDAR/video analytics approaches.
Why Now?
Airports are under immense pressure to handle growing passenger volumes without proportional expansions in space or manpower. With IATA projecting traffic to double by 2040, scalable data infrastructure is no longer optional — it’s essential.
The workshop emphasised how modern analytics platforms must deliver predictive operations, automated SOPs, and real-time intervention capabilities — not just dashboards. This transition from passive monitoring to active control is now being accelerated by global frameworks such as ACI’s Smart Airport and IATA NEXTT.
